The few times I've been here weren't so bad, and every time I've been here it's been past 9pm.

I've ordered sushi, rolls, edamame, fried rice, and bento boxes. Of all these, edamame was the most disappointing. It wasn't salty enough or warm enough. The rolls weren't bad, but also not something to blow my socks off. They were good enough for me to trust that they'll be decent tasting past 9pm. The beef negimaki is probably my favorite. The beef isn't tough and chewy, and they put the right amount of scallions in the middle.

Now, the fried rice was a tad different. It didn't have that fried/loose fried rice type of texture. It was softer and tasted more like a teriyaki fried rice, if there's such thing. It was sweet, and the texture was the type of texture you'd expect from a paella. Am I mad at it? Absolutely not. It tasted pretty darn good, and there were enough pieces of chicken in there to make it feel like a bento box itself. The amount of rice given is a lot-- you could share it with 2 or 3 people, possibly. A few appetizers, an order of fried rice, and a salad can go a long way for groups of 3.

The atmosphere does sorta feel like a place you'd take a date to--so if you're planning a date on a Friday, don't be so shocked to have two inconsiderates next to you playing tonsil hockey like nobody's next to them.

The water always has ice (my fave way to drink water), their bathroom is clean (very much appreciated), and their bathroom sink is cute (just thought I'd share that).

    They're pretty solid.
I'd go back past 9pm again, why not.

This review is for delivery only. I was craving sushi, saw that Sakura had good reviews, and decided to give it a try. I'm sad to say that my first ever Yelp review had to be for something less than 4/5 stars.

I placed an order on Seamless at 1:11pm with the estimated delivery time to be between 1:50 and 2pm. At 2:11pm I decided to call the restaurant to check on the status of my order and the person I spoke to informed me that it was out on delivery. I get that sometimes it gets busy (and the weather wasn't great today) but as it started inching past 2:30pm, it was getting frustrating. I reached out to Seamless to see if they can get to the bottom of this and my food finally arrived at 2:46 pm.

Even though the food was late, I had high hopes that at least the food was good. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The shrimp tempura in both rolls got soggy and was no longer crunchy or hot. The miso soup was barely warm, the eel avocado roll was bland/watery and the salmon roll was decent.

I've been trying out a bunch of sushi restaurants to find my favorite one and I can't say that Sakura makes the cut.

It's alright. The hibachi was drowned in sauce and the steak was very fatty and chewy. It was also over cooked. It's not proper hibachi if that is what you were going for. That's all we had so that's all this review can be about. It tasted like teriyaki. It was ok. Not great. Not bad.

I have eaten at Sakura several times since I began working in Astoria . Everything is excellent every time . Today I stopped in for lunch . I ordered the three roll lunch special . I chose spicy crab , spicy tuna and a spicy yellow tail roll that included a miso soup and green salad . I was still a little hungry so I ordered pan fried pork dumplings and washed everything down with a Diet Coke. I couldn't believe that I got all of that for total of 19$ . It was the best sushi and the best bargain I have had in a while .  My office always orders takeout from here and the visits will keep on coming!!!

I've ordered from Sakura before and enjoyed my food.  But this most recent time, the sushi tasted very off. I put it in my mouth and immediately began to detect something very sour and rancid, and by reflex spit it out.  I tried the second roll I ordered and it was the same.

I called the restaurant asking for a refund, and the restaurant told me that since I already threw my food out, that they would need to call me back.

10 minutes later I got a call from GrubHub customer care who explained to me that the restaurant basically didn't want to refund me, because I threw the food out.

I'm done with this place.  I order sushi from GrubHub all the time, so the loss is the restaurant's in the end.  They got my $30 this time around, but won't ever get it again.
